Frequently Asked dock Questions

How do I get a quote for a custom wood dock?

Getting started is easy—just fill out our contact form, text us, or give us a call. We’ll chat about your vision, assess your shoreline, answer your questions, and provide a free estimate.

If I have an aluminum dock, can I switch to wood?

In most cases, switching to a wood dock is simple. However, if you have a floating dock and your waterfront is particularly deep, wood may not be the best fit. Reach out, and we’ll be happy to stop by and evaluate your shoreline.

Can you build a dock on a pond or river?

We’ve built custom wood docks on all different rivers, ponds, and lakes. In many cases, we can design a dock that fits your shoreline, water depth, and lifestyle needs—reach out, and we’ll help determine the best solution for your waterfront.

What areas do you serve?

We primarily build docks in Waukesha County, Lake Country, and Southern Wisconsin, including Pewaukee Lake, Okauchee Lake, Nagawicka Lake, Oconomowoc Lake, Oconomowoc River, and Lac La Belle. We also work on many other lakes, rivers, and ponds throughout the region. If you don’t see your lake listed, reach out and we’ll let you know if we build in your area.

How long does it take to build and install a dock?

Most custom docks take 2 to 8 weeks from the time you reach out to installation, depending on design complexity. During spring, demand spikes, so it’s best to get ahead of the rush!

Do you offer dock installation and removal services?

We provide free initial installation with every new dock we build. For seasonal installation and removal, we only service the docks we build.

Do you sell aluminum docks or sectional docks?

No. Rock Docks specializes exclusively in wood docks. Our focus is on designing and building custom docks that fit your shoreline, your layout, and how you use your waterfront.

Can you build docks on any shoreline?

We’ve worked with a wide variety of shorelines—whether you have steep slopes, seawalls, or narrow access points. Contact us to discuss your unique waterfront needs.

How much does a custom dock cost?

Pricing varies based on size, layout, and materials. Contact us for a personalized quote.

Can I leave my wood dock in all year?

It depends on your location and lake conditions. Some docks can stay in year-round, but shifting ice and changing water levels can pose a risk. We’re happy to assess your waterfront and give our best recommendation based on your specific shoreline.
